On the other side, those L-modes have never been wanted by the acoustic piano manufacturers, and even they too tried to avoid them long time before computer music existed, unfortunately without succeeding most of the time.Īnyway, you were not alone to make this remark, see thread Hence people using computer based instruments are slowly forgetting how a real piano sounds: irregular from note to note, with sometimes very prominent overtones. I know - because I've been told directly by one editor - that some sample libraries editors filter out those overtones with notch filters, because they think that these overtones sound annoying to the users. I fully agree with you that this A0 has an accentuated bell sound (produced by the so-called L-modes).Īctually, the original acoustic instrument, a brand new Steinway D from Hamburg, had it even more pronounced! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for providing the audio excerpt. Regarding the Weird Bell like tone on A0 posted above. If you upload a file or some files, I could try rendering it or them in Pianoteq so there could be a more direct comparison.ĭisclaimer: I've beta tested for Modartt, but I try to be objective. Often nice, particularly on the more exposed solo piano. Pianoteq sounds very good, but I've just never been blown away by the sound to the point where I was ready to pull the trigger on a $319 purchase.ĭo you have any recordings you've made using the New York Concert Grand and the midi files for them? After reading your post, I went to the linked site and listened to the demo recordings. This requires purchase of the Standard Edition, where you get two pianos for $319. With a modeled piano, like Pianoteq, one of the main attractions is the ability to fiddle with the settings. It is only $69, and to my ears it is very good.
Pianoteq 5 keyboard software#
Over the years I have tried the Pianoteq demos - I like them, but honestly it is priced too high for me.Ī few years back, I bought Native Instruments' New York Concert Grand and it has remained my only software piano. I also have Vertikal II and Black Grand II. I find their sample libraries more playable and expressive than most, and worth having in the arsenal even as Pianoteq improves.
Pianoteq 5 keyboard upgrade#
I did the SampleTekk Blue Grand II upgrade earlier today as well, as I am beginning to like that sample developer quite a bit after feeling their early efforts were lacking.
Pianoteq 5 keyboard for free#
Many people get the upgrade for free if they bought within a certain time period. The upgrade price is the same for everybody and there are now three product price tiers with a chart to compare. At any rate, the two volumes are $59 each so I'd wait for a sale as I have no pressing need for them (but they'd be nice additions) as I already use Pleyel, Erard, and other "accurate" models quite a bit in Pianoteq.
Pianoteq 5 keyboard Patch#
At least some of them require the older Version 3 "M3" patch to be loaded, so perhaps they aren't taking full advantage of the new engine. The historical models did not sound very good to me for the most part, in terms of timbre - something harsh about them. Haven't worked with the new K2 patch much yet. Pianoteq 5 was a no-brainer at $39, and I find I no longer need to automatically add EQ or adjust the velocity curves.
Pianoteq 5 keyboard pro#
Users of the standard version can make fully use of all exciting presets created by other users (available in the FXP corner), including those created by Pianoteq PRO 6 users: any preset created with Pianoteq Standard 6 or Pianoteq PRO 6 produces exactly the same sound in Pianoteq Standard 6 and Pianoteq PRO 6.Been working crazy hours so am finally catching up with all the new releases and updates that came out this month. New exciting possibilities open up as you explore the parameters and discover sounds that you have never heard or thought of before. You can even modify the mechanical properties of the soundboard. Some things can hardly be done in the real world, such as changing the string length from a mini grand of 1m/3.3ft to an imaginary giant grand of 10m/33ft. With just a few mouse clicks, you can achieve things that would require hours, or even weeks, by piano technicians to adapt on real acoustic pianos. The possibility to shape the sound through physical parameters is an extraordinary feature that cannot be found in any other piano software. It also lets you position up to 5 microphones around the instrument and to choose from a selection of different microphone brands. It is a natural choice for the semi-professional musician who wants to adjust unique physical parameters such as unison with, microtuning, hammer hardness, soundboard, and string length. The Pianoteq Standard 6 version offers several powerful tools for sound shaping and recording. Baritone Horns, Euphoniums, and Alto Horns.Speakers - Speakers & Tweeters Component.
